I used this small router as a laminate trimmer for my new kitchen countertops. It worked great. I really like the clear base plate. I adapted the included edge guide to make 12" radius arc cuts in plywood for the kitchen peninsula - it worked flawlessly.best on/of switchA good working router, smooth and easy to use. I am used to an old Type 1 Porter Cable Trim Router - sort of the ancestor to this and a great work horse. This model has nicer features and is easier to use. It may be a little lighter which is a plus. It does fit my hand better. It took a minute to realize the upper clamps on the base lock onto the adjusting ring and make it easy to adjust the height. Works very well to adjust the bit height. If you have a bit that needs to be installed with the base on there isn't much room. Pretty tight space but still workable. With the base off bits are easy to install. My only complaint, which is common with trim routers, is the hole in the base does not accomodate larger bits. Perhaps they intend it as a trim router only and not for every 1/4 inch bit you may own. But I modified the base to a larger hole and now all the bits I own in the Yonica 70 piece set can run on the router. OK ... functionality over looks is tops. Mine came with a side fence that attaches easily and works well. Kept the router straight when adding a fluted bead on a 4 x 4 for a table leg. Only had it one day but first impressions are all positive.I have a couple routers for different tasks.Pros:(a) light shines on work piece, which is handy when working in a garage.(b) strong, variable speed motor (see cons)(c) easier to change router bits than some other models I've used. I think this is mostly because of its flat top, which allows one to easily turn it upside down to work on the router or attach a plate, etc. Many models are rounded and difficult to keep steady when doing this.Cons:(a) variable speed dial creeps a lot (moves around while in use, due to vibration). I had it on 5 and looked down mid-way through the work and saw it on 4 1/2 or 4 almost every time. Even when idling (not touching a work piece, but on), I can see the dial moving around. I've not taken it apart to see if I can tighten anything with regard to the speed. I might be able to just put a shim in the groove to make it not slide around.(b) set screw for retention clamp was in way too tight from the factory. I bent a hex key doing it. Took a bit of finagling to get it to where I can adjust the depth and trust it.The cons, especially (a) can ruin your day when working on something and the speed creeps down unannounced. I've made the router work for me though, so it's more positive than negative.I like smaller size for smaller jobs or where a larger base will not fit. I like that I can fine tune the depth of the bit for routing. The one thing I noticed is there is no tension or click stop on the speed control. The vibration of cutting will cause the speed dial to move to a speed slower. I had to tape the dial at the speed I wanted.I do allot of furniture repair and inlay work and the larger routers are just to damn bulky. I have tried several smaller routers but they did not have speed control which is a SUPER plus. 10StARSSI love this little thing! Great for those hard to reach places!! Worked great for woodworking, I'll be using it to mill out some pew pew lowers. (You know) anyway it's awesome. I will say that it is a trim router, so for bit projects like tables a big router is easier. Or if you're trying to make a router table, this isn't the one for you. In that case I'd recommend a big router for the table and this one to use on everything else in your shop. Happy Making! This router works great for what I need and use it for and I'm very glad I purchased it. It's easy to handle and definitely has enough power, and it's great that it's variable speed. The on/off button is ideal and is very logically located and it's easy to use. Because of the speeds, I would just want to reiterate that you must wait for the router to stop spinning before you try to move it, for safety's sake. I'm glad I decided on this unit with so many options out there. The start up is not harsh; and easy to control as a hand held routerBon produitSuper!
